LANGUAGE MINORITY STUDENTS
All schools with language minority students shall be obligated to provide written or verbal communications with these students and parents or guardians in a language they can best understand, as referenced through the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) guidelines.
PLACEMENT OF NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS
Temporary placement of non-English speaking students shall be determined by the principal, guidance counselor, area supervisor, and supervisor of non-English students. When the student has gained a command of the English language and is able to address grade level skills, the above committee shall determine permanent placement. The student shall be placed on the parish grading system at the time of regular placement. No student shall be accelerated beyond regular placement for his/her age.
