RETIREMENT

Unless exempted by statutory authority, all employees of the Iberia Parish School Board shall be required, as a condition of employment, to become members of the retirement system for which they are eligible.

As a condition of employment, any employee who desires to retire shall give written notice of the same to the Superintendent not less than thirty (30) nor more than ninety (90) days subsequent to the execution and filing of the application with the individual’s retirement system.  The Superintendent shall, on behalf of the School Board, accept any employee’s notice of retirement upon the terms and conditions as agreed upon.  Once the necessary retirement papers have been received and executed by the employee’s retirement system, the decision to retire may not be rescinded by the employee.  Prior to said event, any decision to allow the employ to withdraw his/her notice to retire shall be within the complete, unfettered discretion of the Superintendent and designee thereof.  There shall be no appeal to the School Board on such a decision.
