            The Iberia Parish School Board met in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Board Room at the Administrative Office 1500 Jane Street, New Iberia, Louisiana.

 

            The President called the meeting to order and asked for a Moment of Silence for individuals who have passed away.

Mr. Henry Porter - Son of Lloyd G. Porter, retired Superintendent of Schools and father of Claudia Porter Morgan, retired New Iberia Senior High teacher.

 

                        Mr. Norris Rader - Former School Board Member - 17 years of service

 

            The Opening Prayer was given by Rev. Alexander and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Pradia.

 

CONSENT AGENDA -

Section D of the agenda is the Consent Agenda.  Board members may remove any items for individual consideration.

There were no requests.  The Consent Agenda remained as published.

 

SECTION A - ROLL CALL

            The President asked Ms. Williams to call the roll.  Board members present were Mr. Thomas L. Jolivet, President; Mrs. Nursey O. McNeal, Mr. Elvin Pradia, Mr. Robbie J.             Mr. Dan LeBlanc moved, Mrs. Segura seconded, to accept the 2017 Annual Financial/Compliance Audit by the firm of Kolder, Champagne, Slaven and Company, LLC, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

2.         Safe Schools Training - [Presentation Only - No Action Required]

            Presentation on Safe Schools Training by Scenario Learning, LLC.

 

3.         Monthly Sales Tax Reports

            Mr. Robbie LeBlanc moved, Mrs. Lockett  seconded, approval of the schedule/time line for Bid No. 1068 - North Street Elementary Additions and Renovations, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

AGENDA ITEM E4 - RECOMMENDATION FOR 10% OF ½ CENT SALES TAX DISTRIBUTION TO SCHOOLS

 

            Mr. Pradia moved, Rev. Alexander seconded, approval of the staff recommendation for the distribution of the 10% of ½ cent sales tax to schools for the 2018-19 school year, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

AGENDA ITEM E5 - NAMING THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON LeBOURGEOIS ROAD

 

            Mr. Buford moved, Mrs. Segura seconded, that the new elementary school on LeBourgeois Road be named Belle Place Elementary School and that upon the receipt of a majority vote of the Board, the selected name will be used on all official documents from that point on.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

Agenda Item E6 - Approve Revisions to Policy

            Mrs. Segura moved, Rev. Alexander seconded, approval of the proposed revisions to Iberia Parish School Board Policies, as presented as follows:

            1.         Jeanerette Senior High Community Breakfast will be held December 21st beginning at 8:30 a.m.

2.         Nickel Harvest Campaign - Students donating pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters gave a total of $9,257.10

            3.         Park Elementary is having a new socks drive for the homeless shelter.

 

SECTION H - ADJOURNMENT

            There being no further business, Mr. Buford moved, Mr. Robbie LeBlanc seconded, to adjourn the meeting.

The motion was unanimously adopted.
