            The Iberia Parish School Board met in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Board Room at the Administrative Office, 1500 Jane Street, New Iberia, Louisiana.

 

            The President called the meeting to order and asked for a Moment of Silence for individuals who have passed away:

 

                        Mrs. Kay Dooley - Mother of Mr. Gannon Dooley, Principal at Loreauville Elementary School

           

                        Mr.  Tracy Ozenne - Brother of School Board Member Mrs. Nursey McNeal

 

                        Mrs. Vivian Ruiz - Mother of Mrs. Charlene Picheloup, Librarian at Loreauville High and Mother-In-Law of Mr. James Picheloup, Assistant Principal at New Iberia Senior High

                       

            The Opening Prayer was given by Rev. Alexander and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Dugas.

Section C of the agenda is the Consent Agenda.  Board members may remove any items for individual consideration.

 

There were no requests.  The Consent Agenda remained as published.

Agenda Item D2 -Act 1 Evaluation Stipends

 

            Mr. Buford moved, Mr. Dan LeBlanc seconded, approval of the Act 1 cost computations and payment of evaluation stipends for teachers for Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2018, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

Agenda Item D3 - Sales Tax Salary Deferred Payments for November 2017

            Rev. Alexander moved, Mrs. Segura seconded, approval of the 50% of 3/4 Cent Sales Tax Salary and 90% of the ½ Cent Sales Tax Salary deferred payments to be paid in November 2017, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

Agenda Item D4 - Policy Manual Revisions

            Mr. McDonald moved, Mrs. Lockett seconded, approval of  revisions to the Iberia Parish School Board Policy Manual, as presented, as follows:

 

            A.         Policy JDA - Corporal Punishment

            B.         Policy JGCD - Administration of Medicine

The motion was unanimously adopted.

SECTION F - ANNOUNCEMENTS

            1.         Campus Crime Stoppers - A poster contest was held at the schools and the winning poster will be sent to all the schools for posting.  Mr. Mike Barras will make a presentation on the Crime Stoppers Program at the next Board meeting.

 

            2.         Name the new school – We will follow the same protocol as in the past for naming a new school.  The students in schools that will eventually attend the new school and the school staff are asked for suggestions.

The principal will tally the suggestions and submit the top five to our office.  The Board will then take action on the suggestions and name the new school.

            There being no further business, Mr. Buford moved, Mrs. Lockett seconded, to adjourn the meeting.

The motion was unanimously adopted.
