            The Iberia Parish School Board met in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Board Room at that Administrative Office, 1500 Jane Street, New Iberia, Louisiana.

 

            The President called the meeting to order and asked for a Moment of Silence for individuals who have passed away:   

 

                        Mrs. Madeline McClelland - Wife of retired Principal Coach L. Murle (Coach Mac) McClelland

                        Mrs. Muriel Landry - Mother of Mr. Curt Landry, Principal, New Iberia Senior High

 

            The Opening Prayer was given by Mrs. Lockett and the Pledge of Allegiance was led By Mr. Robbie LeBlanc.

 

CONSENT AGENDA –

 

Section B of the agenda is the Consent Agenda.  Board members may remove   any items for individual consideration.

 

There were no requests.  The Consent Agenda remained as published.

 

OTHER –

 

            A corrected agenda is at each member’s place.  The electronic agenda is correct.

 

SECTION A - ROLL CALL

 

            The President asked Ms. Williams to call the roll.  Board members present were Mr. Thomas L. Jolivet, President; Mrs. Nursey O. McNeal, Mr. Elvin Pradia, Mr. Jay J. McDonald,   Mr. Robbie J. LeBlanc, Mrs. Kim E. Lockett, Mr. Dan L. LeBlanc, Sr., Mr. Edwin J. Buford, Jr.,  Mr. Dana P. Dugas, Mrs. Rachel L. Segura, Mrs. Kathleen B. Rosamond, Mr. Danny D. Segura and Mr. Kenric P. Fremin.

 

            Board member absent was Rev. Arthur L. Alexander, due to a previous commitment.

 

SECTION C - CONSENT AGENDA

 

            Mr. Pradia moved, Mr. Buford seconded, to approve the consent agenda items, as follows:

 

            1.         Approve minutes - Regular Meeting - May 4, 2017

            2.         Delay approval of minutes - Regular Meeting - May 24, 2017

 

            3.         State Contract Purchase -Chromebooks, Charging Carts, Licenses and Labor Services - Parishwide - Detel Computer Systems - $628,299.84

                                   

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

SECTION C - AGENDA ITEMS

 

AGENDA ITEM C1 - BID NO. 1066 - NEW PAVILION - REMY LANDRY PARK

 

            Mr. Segura moved, Mr. Fremin seconded, approval to advertise for bids and time line for Bid No. 1066 - New Pavilion at Remy Landry Park, as presented.

 

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

AGENDA ITEM C2 –

 

PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE

 

            Mr. McDonald moved, Mr. Dugas seconded, approval of the recommendations for the Board’s Property and Casualty Insurance, as presented.

 

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

REJECT UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE

 

            Mrs. Segura moved, Mr. McDonald seconded, to reject Uninsured Motorist coverage and to authorize the Board President to sign the required paperwork.

 

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

AGENDA ITEM C3 - REVISIONS TO JOB DESCRIPTION A-102.2 – ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF ADMINISTRATION

 

            Mrs. Segura moved, Mrs. Lockett seconded, approval of the proposed revisions to Job Description A-102.2 - Assistant Superintendent of Administration, as presented.

 

The motion was unanimously adopted.

 

AGENDA ITEM C4 - SELECTING OFFICIAL JOURNAL

 

            Mr. Pradia moved, Mr. Robbie LeBlanc seconded, that in accordance with La R.S. 43:141(A) and La R.S. 43:150, the Iberia Parish School Board does hereby select the Daily Iberian as its official journal, effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, as presented.

 

The motion was unanimously adopted.

SECTION E – ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

1.         A copy of the new Iberia Parish School Board’s 2017  “Road To Excellence” publication is at each member’s desk.

 

2.         Mrs. McNeal and Mrs. Lockett attended the Chamber of Commerce meeting.  The Mayor and Parish President were also in attendance.  Discussion regarding drainage issues and a budget to address the issues.  Also discussed were the areas where State roads were closed due to flooding.

 

3.         Mr. Dugas thanked Mr. Henderson for sharing the “Look Before You Lock” flyers.

 

 

F - ADJOURNMENT

            There being no further business, Mr. Buford moved, Mr. Robbie LeBlanc seconded, to adjourn the meeting.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
