The Iberia Parish School Board met in Regular Session at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the Board Room at the Administrative Office, 1500 Jane Street, New Iberia, Louisiana.
The President called the meeting to order. The Opening Prayer was given by Rev. Alexander and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Robbie LeBlanc.
CONSENT AGENDA –
Section D of the agenda is the Consent Agenda. Board members may remove any items for individual consideration.
There were no requests. The Consent Agenda remained as published.
OTHER –
There is a revised Personnel Change List at each member’s desk. The electronic agenda attachment is correct.

AGENDA ITEM E2 - BID NO. 1063 - INTERIOR PAINTING - RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD
Mrs. Segura moved, Mr. McDonald seconded, approval of the staff recommendation to award Bid No. 1063 - Interior Painting of Belle Place Middle and Iberia Middle Schools to JMA Painters, LLC for a total bid amount, including Alternates No. 1 and No. 2, of $700,000.00, as presented.
The motion was unanimously adopted.
AGENDA ITEM E3 - RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONTINUING INDUSTRIAL TAX EXEMPTION CONTRACT WITH CARBO CERAMICS
Mrs. Rosamond moved, Mr. Dugas seconded, to adopt the following resolution supporting continuing the industrial tax exemption contract with Carbo Ceramics,, as presented, as follows:
RESOLUTION NO. IPSB41917
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT AND REQUESTING
THAT THE STATE OF LOUISIANA AND BOARD OF COMMERCE
AND INDUSTRY CONTINUE TO HONOR THE INDUSTRIAL TAX
EXEMPTION CONTRACT WITH CARBO CERAMICS, INC.
WHEREAS, CARBO CERAMICS, INC., currently has a contract with the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry for an Industrial Tax Exemption; and
WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana recently made adjustments to the regulations which govern the program; and
WHEREAS, CARBO CERAMICS, INC., is currently operating, on a limited basis at the current time, a product manufacturing business in Iberia Parish; and
WHEREAS, CARBO CERAMICS, INC., is requesting that the State of Louisiana and Board of Commerce and Industry continue to honor the Industrial Tax Exemption contract.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Iberia Parish School Board does hereby express support and request that the State of Louisiana and Board of Commerce and Industry continue to honor the Industrial Tax Exemption contract with CARBO CERAMICS, INC.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption by the Iberia Parish School Board.
The resolution was adopted on a vote of 12 Ayes, 1 Nay, 1 Absent.

SECTION G – ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. The Choral students at New Iberia Senior High School are presenting the play “Footloose the Musical” on April 21st - 23rd and April 28th - 30th. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. Sundays are matinees beginning at 3:00 p.m.
2. Testing began again today and will continue through the beginning of May.
3. Project Graduation is sponsoring a 5K run Sunday, April 29th at New Iberia City Park.
