            The Iberia Parish School Board met in Regular Session at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the Board Room at the Administrative Office, 1500 Jane Street, New Iberia, Louisiana.

            The President called the meeting to order and asked for a Moment of Silence for individuals who have passed away:

                        Mr. Charles “Speedy” Delahoussaye - Father of Mr.  David Delahoussaye, Purchasing Agent

                        Mrs. Carla Hulin Migues - Retired Teacher

                        Mr. Lucas Lipari - Husband of Mrs. Shanie Lipari -Teacher, Center Street Elementary

            The Opening Prayer was given by Ava LeBlanc and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Noah Carr.  Both individuals are students at Delcambre Elementary School.

OTHER –

            There is a revised agenda at everyone’s place.  The electronic agenda is correct.

            The President called three times for bids to be turned in for Bid No. 1063 - Interior Painting of Belle Place Middle and Iberia Middle Schools.

SECTION A - ROLL CALL

            The President called the meeting to order and asked Ms. Williams to call the roll.  Board members present were Mr. Thomas L. Jolivet, President; Mrs. Nursey O. McNeal, Mr. Elvin Pradia, Mr. Jay J. McDonald, Mr. Robbie J. LeBlanc, Mr. Dan L. LeBlanc, Sr., Mr. Edwin J. Buford, Jr., Mr. Dana P. Dugas, Mrs. Rachel L. Segura, Mrs. Kathleen B. Rosamond, Rev. Arthur L. Alexander and Mr. Kenric P Fremin.

            Board Members absent were Mrs. Kim E. Lockett, due to personal illness and Mr. Danny D. Segura, due to company business.

SECTION C - ADOPT MILLAGE RATES FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2017

Mr. Jay McDonald moved, Rev. Arthur Alexander seconded, to adopt the following resolution:

                                                                         RESOLUTION

            BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage(s) are hereby levied on the 2017 tax roll on all property subject to taxation by the Iberia Parish School Board.

                                                                                                            MILLAGE

            Constitutional Tax                                                                      4.47 Mills

            Maintenance and Operations                                                     6.15 Mills

            Bond Retirement                                                                       21.90 Mills

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Iberia, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as herein above set forth, upon the assessment roll of said parish for the 2017, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.

            The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

SECTION D - CONSENT AGENDA

            Mrs. Segura moved, Mr. Dan LeBlanc seconded, to approve the consent agenda items, as follows:

            1.         Approve minutes - Regular Meeting - February 15, 2017

            2.         Delay approval of minutes - Regular Meeting - March 15, 2017

            3.         State Contract Purchase - Dell Laptops and Accessories - Replace Computers for School Administrators - Dell Marketing - $77,309.96

The motion was unanimously adopted.

SECTION E - OPEN BIDS

AGENDA ITEM E1 - BID NO. 1063 - INTERIOR PAINTING OF BELLE PLACE AND IBERIA MIDDLE SCHOOLS

            Mr. Robbie LeBlanc moved, Mr. McDonald seconded, that bids received for Bid No. 1063 - Interior Painting of Belle Place and Iberia Middle Schools, be opened and read.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

            Rev. Alexander moved, Mrs. Segura seconded, that bids received be taken under advisement with a recommendation for awarding the bid to be made at the next Board meeting.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

SECTION F - AGENDA ITEMS

AGENDA ITEM F1 - TIME LINE FOR BID NO. 1056 - NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON LeBOURGEOIS ROAD

            Mr. Buford moved, Mr. Dan LeBlanc seconded, approval of the time line and granting of authority to advertise for bids, for Bid No. 1056 - New Elementary School on LeBourgeois Road, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

AGENDA ITEM F2 - SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION - DHS AND JSHS STORAGE BUILDINGS AND RENOVATIONS

            Rev. Alexander moved, Mr. Fremin seconded, approval of Substantial Completion for the Delcambre High and Jeanerette Senior High Schools Storage Buildings and Renovations Project, Acadiane’ Renovations, Ltd., as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

AGENDA ITEM F3 - INSURANCE POLICIES PRESENTATION

            Mrs. Segura moved, Mr. McDonald seconded, approval of the recommendations for renewal or obtaining Requests for Proposals for Iberia Parish School Board property and casualty insurance policies, as presented.

The motion was unanimously adopted.

SECTION H - ANNOUNCEMENTS

            1.         LEAP testing began Monday and will continue throughout the month.

            2.         Iberia Parish Career Center’s 5^th Annual Car and Craft Show will take place on Saturday, April 8^th at Bouligny Plaza and the Pavilion.

            3.         Recruiting has begun to hire teachers for next school year.

            4.         The Board Retreat will be held Saturday, April 29^th at Jefferson Island.

            There being no further business, Mr. Buford moved, Mr. Robbie LeBlanc seconded, that the meeting be adjourned.

The motion was unanimously adopted.
