LEAVE WITHOUT PAY
Leave of absence without pay may be granted personnel in accordance with the following guidelines:
Application for leave of absence, without pay, shall be made on a form provided by the Superintendent of Schools. Applications shall be sent to the Superintendent by registered mail at least 60 days preceding the beginning of the semester for which leave is requested. With the following exception; if an employee requires leave of absence without pay for personal illness or illness within the employee's immediate family, it shall be sufficient to mail said application to the Superintendent 30 days prior to the date upon which the requested leave is to commence.
The Superintendent shall reply to all requests for leave at least 30 days preceding the beginning of the semester of the school year for which the leave is requested except that where an employee or a member of an employee's immediate family becomes ill during a semester and the employee has requested leave for recuperation purpose or for the purpose of caring for a person who is recuperating, the Superintendent shall inform the employee of approval or denial of such leave as soon as possible.
Persons shall not be granted leaves of absence without pay for any period longer than one (1) year.
Persons may not return from leave of absence without pay prior to the date stated on the application for such leave.
Persons granted leave of absence, without pay, shall not be employed full-time.
Any person who fails to comply with the provisions of this policy may have his/her leave terminated by the Superintendent at any time.
